| Paititi Cloud Forest Preserve Volunteer Program | |||||||||||

Paititi is a privately owned cloud forest near
the town of Cuenca in southern Ecuador. The property is located in the
foot-hills of the Andes at 3200 feet, temperature remains around 18
to 20ºC, overlooking Gulf of Guayaquil. The biodiversity found
on the here is one of the highest in the world. Countless species remain to be described which is where we come in. We are working on the creation of a center for applied biodiversity and a botanical garden, which will focus on describing the flora and fauna found within the 400 acres of cloud forest. Our hopes are that by better understanding what species are present we will be able to better protect them, and access which species are in urgent need of protection. We will be working with local communities in several tasks like reforestation and sustainable development. | |||||||||||

Volunteers
are needed for the construction of the facilities as well describing
the flora and fauna. Requirements are that you are able to speak spanish
well and if you are interested in the biological work, that you have
some biology background, preferablly fieldwork. In return for your
time and work we will provide your food and lodging in one of the
most diverse forests in the world.
